Guidance for churches during COVID-19
22 May 2020
Keeping Baptist churches protected during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since 1905, we’ve stood by Baptist churches and communities to provide support, advice and assurance at those times when it’s been needed the most. And we will continue to do so during this unprecedented pandemic and in the months and years to come.
Our staff are continuing to provide 100% support and service
We've completely restructured our work environment so that our specialist teams are able to continue their essential work from home in self-isolation – all staff are still on hand to provide our award-winning service, support and guidance. Just contact us in all the usual ways and we’ll help in any way we can.
COVID-19 and your insurance policy with us
In light of current uncertainty caused by the outbreak of COVID-19, we understand that there will inevitably be questions over your church insurance.
Please follow the appropriate link below to find out more about the cover that applies to your policy.
If you are struggling to make payments for affordability or logistical issues, please contact us as we may be able to support you with practical help.
Risk Management including Surveys
Our dedicated team of in-house risk professionals are on hand to support you with a variety of services and advice.
Managing temporarily closed churches and other church properties during the COVID-19 pandemic
Buildings, whether temporarily closed or permanently unoccupied, can be at greater risk. You can access our guide to the key ways in which you can help protect your church and other properties whilst they are temporarily closed as a consequence of the COVID-19.
Surveys and Valuations
Although we are now starting to see signs of restrictions being relaxed, carrying out surveys and valuations in person has not been possible during lockdown, so we have been conducting as many as possible using our desk based tools and helping customers through our risk advice line. We will be working hard to respond to further changes as they come into force over the coming weeks, while ensuring the safety and welfare of our customers and staff.
Risk Advice line
For advice on risk management issues: either call us on 0345 600 7531 (Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm - excluding bank holidays) or you can email us at email@example.com
Risk Management Guidance
You can access our library of wider risk management guidance for churches here. We would also encourage you to continue to monitor and follow the latest government advice, as the situation is evolving rapidly.
Claims service during COVID-19
Our dedicated claims team are all operating from home offering our usual service.
When it comes to responding to claims relating to COVID-19, we adhere to a clear set of principles set out by the ABI (Association of British Insurers), designed to reassure customers at this uncertain time.
Principles including but not limited to
- Providing you with clear, accurate and timely communication
- Paying valid and evidenced claims as soon as possible, including interim or part payments to help relieve the pressure
- Where we reach decision not to pay a claim, we will notify you promptly and set out our reasons in full in plain English, including details of our complaints procedure
